On December 5, 2019, the Romanian Post issued a series of postage stamps "Uniform of the Romanian Kings", consisting of 4 stamps, a souvenir sheet and a miniature sheet.

The Romanian kingdom lasted only 66 years from 1881 to 1947. However, this time is considered almost the golden age in the history of Romania. In recognition of the importance of the Romanian royal family for the history of the country, the Romanian Post initiated the issuance of several series of postage stamps under the general title "Uniforms of Romanian Kings". The stamps of the first series were released on December 5, 2019.

During the existence of the Romanian kingdom, only four kings ruled it: Karol I (1839-1914), the first king of Romania, he ruled from March 26, 1881 until his death in 1914. His successor, Ferdinand I (1865-1927), ruled from 1914 until his death in 1927. Then little Mihai I (1921 - 2017) became the Romanian king, for the first time he was king for only 3 years from 1927 to 1930., After that his father Karol II (1893 - 1953) ruled, he ruled from 1930 to 1940, and from 1940 to 1947, the crown again passed to Mihai I - he became the last Romanian king.

The stamps of the series depict Romanian kings in full dress uniforms of different years.

Karol I ruled for 48 years - the longest reign in the entire history of Romania! And these 48 years have led to serious changes in the life of the Romanian state. This monarch achieved the independence of Romania, raised its international prestige high, founded and strengthened the royal dynasty of Romania. Under him, Romania gained complete independence from the Ottoman Empire. During the reign of King Carol I, the first law on the organization of the army was passed, the first railway to Giurgiu was built in 1869 and the port of Constanta and Cernavoda was opened. His reign was characterized by political stability. Karol I was a strict and disciplined man with impeccable morality.

Despite the fact that he was born in Germany and was a prince from the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen family, he sincerely fell in love with his new homeland and the Romanian people and his subjects responded to him with the same love. In his will, the King of Romania Carol I bequeathed the future rulers of Romania to be guided by the principle that became the key for himself in the management of Romania - "Everything for the country, nothing for yourself!"

In addition, stamps were issued in a miniature sheet containing 4 stamps and a souvenir sheet . Also, Romanian Post prepared first day covers and maxicards.
