On December 3, 2021, the Romanian Post issued a series of "Horses", consisting of 4 stamps.
The series is not dedicated to any particular horse breed, it is just about horses. These beautiful, strong and graceful animals that have lived side by side with humans for thousands of years. Horses used to play a much more significant role in people's lives: they were a means of transportation for people and goods, a hardy worker in the field and in a mine, as well as a formidable military force.
Now the practical use of horses in the economy has practically disappeared, but nevertheless horses have not disappeared from our lives. Equestrian sports are still popular, equestrian tourism is developing, there are horse farms and eco-farms, horses have even become a means of rehabilitation in hippotherapy. I would like to believe that even after hundreds of years have passed, horses will still live next to people.
The postage stamps with denominations of 2.60, 4.50, 6.50 and 16 lei depict mares with foals: standing, lying and freely galloping across the field. The artist managed to convey the tender attitude and care of horses for their foals. The issue turned out to be very cute and touching. Due to the use of computer graphics by designer Victor Telibașa, the images look stylized, but overall the series makes a good impression.
The stamps were issued in miniature sheets of 5 stamps with a coupon (3 x 2). In addition to a series of postage stamps, the Romanian post also prepared first day cover and maximum cards; on the first day of postage stamps, they were canceled with a special postmark.
