August 9, 2018 the post of Monaco issued a postage stamp in honor of the 20th anniversary of the headquarters of the International Union of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) in Monte Carlo.
The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne is the world governing body of the Olympic sport of Modern Pentathlon.
Established in 1948, the International Union of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) is the authoritative institution for the modern pentathlon, a sport which combines five disciplines: show jumping, fencing, swimming, shooting and running. At the initiative of Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the sport made its first appearence at the Olympics in stockholm in 1912.
The headquaters of the UIPM was set up in Monaco since 1997.
On the postage stamp the official emblem of UIPM is depicted, at the bottom of the stamp there are also pictograms of all five sports disciplines that are part of the modern pentathlon.
