Today is the anniversary of the site "Horses on Stamps"!
15 years ago - on May 13, 2003, the site was first published on the Internet.
15 years is quite a long time for a thematic site on philately. Today I would like to look back a little and tell you how this project began and developed.
When I first started making this site in 2003, there were very few resources on the RuNet dedicated to postage stamps. Each site was based on the enthusiasm of its author, all the sites were completely different, none were similar to the other.
The idea of creating a site captured and carried me away for many years. This site was my favorite brainchild, I was proud of every stamp, envelope or postmark added to the catalog, every article written. I wanted to make a quality resource that would be useful and enjoyable for visitors. I hope I succeeded in this to some extent.
Working on the site, searching for information and scans introduced me, albeit virtually, to a lot of very friendly and interesting people who are passionate about philately and postage stamps. I think that if it weren't for their support, I wouldn't be celebrating this anniversary today.
2004-2009 - years of active development of the site - 100 series, 500, 1000, 1500 issues - very nice round numbers that flash in the site's news. The scope of the presented materials is expanding: new sections on postal envelopes and cards, on postmarks appear on the site.
Of course, not all ideas were realized, philately is so interesting and multifaceted that sometimes I simply drowned in the abundance of information and did not know what to grab onto. I wanted to make a section about artists and catalog reviews, pages about philatelic exhibitions and equestrian exhibits, create a forum for communication with fellow horse lovers - there is too much to list.
Then, due to some life circumstances, work on the site slowed down, and then stopped altogether, and after 2014 the site was in a sad state of neglect.
After a long break, looking at my site, I realized that now I would have done a lot differently. And I still decided to make a second breakthrough. New design, new software, new sections, English version - all this very gradually, brick by brick, formed a completely new, but nevertheless so native to me site. And so in September 2017, the technical launch of the new version of the site "Horses on Stamps" took place.
And now, like 15 years ago, I am posting the 100th and 200th series of stamps, and I am worried that there are still very, very few of them. But at the same time, I feel an extraordinary creative upsurge and a desire to make sure that every day there are more and more interesting materials on the site.
I hope that everything will happen exactly like this and the site will again become a place where you will want to visit again and again.
P.S.
Today I am in an unusually sentimental mood, so instead of a short statistical report on the site's work, this lyrical opus turned out.
P.P.S. Thank you Kisa for your patience and help :)
I apologize for any errors or inaccuracies
