On August 15, 2019, the Serbian Post issued a stamp in honor of the Ljubicevo Equestrian Games.
For the third year in a row, the Serbian Post has been issuing stamps dedicated to the Lubichev Equestrian Games - a major equestrian event held annually in Požaravets on the first weekend of September. In 2017, the postage stamp was dedicated to show jumping, last 2018 to trotting, and this year to horseracing. The entire series is authored by Serbian artist Boban Savić.
Holidays in Pozharavets were held from August 15 to September 4, 2019, directly equestrian competitions lasted 3 days: from August 30 to September 1. The sports program includes harness racing and horseracing, show jumping and cross-country, children's vaulting, as well as the traditional Ljubicevo horse equestrian pentathlon. The prize pool of the competition is 8.1 million dinars, which is the largest prize fund in the country. The competition was attended by more than 350 athletes from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Croatia.
Races take place at the Požaravac racecourse. The inner circle is designed for trotting races, in the outer circle with grass cover are racing. In the days of competition, races are held alternately. This year the competition program included 6 trotting races and 6 horse races, including the main event of the horse racing season, Knez Mihailo and Ljubicevo.
Together with the postage stamp, the post of Serbia prepared the First Day Cover and a special postmark.
I wonder if we will see a new stamp with the Ljubicevo equestrian games next year. Will the post of Serbia continue this tradition, for example, the post of Monaco, which annually issues stamps for the Circus Festival.
