On June 23, 2022, the French Post (La Poste) released another minisheet in the series "Sport: colors of passion.
In 2019, the French Post launched the Sport: Colors of Passion series, designed for 5 years. Each year, the post office issued one round sheet dedicated to one of the world's continents.
Europe in 2019, America in 2020, Asia in 2021, Africa in 2022 and in 2023 we will have an issue dedicated to Australia. Each block contains 6 stamps with the image of a sport, the background for the stamps is the color outline of the continent. The choice of sports disciplines was mainly made in connection with the various competitions that took place in these years in the countries of the selected region. The round block is a kind of map of the world, a visual embodiment of the idea that sport unites the whole world.
The author of this colorful series of postage stamps is Sandrine Chimbaud, a French graphic designer and illustrator who has long and successfully collaborated with the French Post.
And in 2022, the stamps of the "African" miniature sheet are dedicated to the following sports disciplines: boxing, handball, equestrianism, archery, diving and wheelchair tennis. The stamps are dedicated to Olympic and Paralympic sports, in memory of the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Equestrian sport consisting of three disciplines: dressage, triathlon and jumping was included in the program of the Olympic Games in 1912. It is the only Olympic sport that involves animals. The French Equestrian Federation FFE currently has over 700,000 members, making horseback riding the 3rd most popular sport in France.
