Military orchestra Charanga «Grito de Asencio»
On July 20, 2018, the post of Uruguay issued a postage stamp in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Charanga "Grito de Asencio". The charanga is a military musical ensemble composed of aerophone instruments of the metal family, with the rhythmic accompaniment of kettledrums. Currently the Charanga Grito de Asencio is the only one of the country that executes mounted on horseback and one of the few existing in the world. |
