Guernsey Folklore

A selection of old tales from Guernsey’s past are the focus of six new stamps, a miniature sheet and associated products which form the latest in the stamp bureau’s Guernsey Folklore series.

Designed by artist David Wyatt, the stamps have been produced to celebrate the opening of a folklore gallery at Guernsey Museum. The island of Guernsey has a rich tradition of folk tales and traditional customs, which the new stamps echo.

The tales featured are: The de Garis Family and the Pouques (44p), The Fairies’ Bat (59p), The Fairy Invasion of Guernsey (60p), The Fairies’ Gallow (73p), Pierre Dumont and Le P’tit Colin (80p) and The Devil’s Hoofprint (90p). Each of the stamp includes Guernsey scenes, landmarks or buildings as part of the story.
