Young of Iceland‘s Domestic Animals

On April 11, 2019, Iceland Post presented the third issue of its "Young of Iceland‘s Domestic Animals" series.

The adorable faces of a puppy and a foal grace the new Icelandic postage stamps. The photographs were taken by photographer Bára K. Kristinsdóttir.

The Icelandic horse breed has been bred in its purest form for over a thousand years. The first horses were brought to the island by Vikings in the 9th and 10th centuries. In 982, the Icelandic parliament passed a law completely banning the import of horses into the country, and since then, not a single foreign horse has set hooves on the island's rocky soil.
