The 1918 fight for Czech statehood

The path to statehood in 1918 during the First World War is the theme of the fifth miniature sheet in the series dedicated to the years of 1914–1948. The miniature sheet dedicated to the year 1918 commemorates events such as, Austrian Emperor Charles I abdication, establishment of an independent Czechoslovakia, end of World War I, first Czechoslovak stamps, separation of the Czechoslovak currency from the Austro-Hungarian currency, and important persons of the time such as, Jiří Stříbrný, Vavro Šrobár, Fantišek Soukup, Antonín Švehla, Milan Rastislav Štefánik, Eduard Beneš, and Karel Kramář.

The upper stamp contains a non-traditional view of St. Wenceslas monument. The lower stamp portrays T.G. Masaryk with flags.
