150th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police
On May 23, 2023, Canada Post issued a postage stamp to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The founding date of the Canadian Mounted Police is May 23, 1873. Then, according to the order of the first Canadian Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald, the North West Mounted Police was founded. In 1904, the title “royal” was added to its name, and when reorganized in 1920, the service acquired its modern name: the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. |
