Urban Architecture. La Zarzuela Hippodrome
On November 10, 2020, the Spanish Post issued a souvenir sheet dedicated to the La Zarzuela Madrid hippodrome as part of the Urban Architecture issue. The hippodrome project was developed in 1935 by architects Carlos Arniches, Martin Dominguez and engineer Eduardo Torroja, however, due to the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, the La Zarzuela hippodrome was completed and opened only in 1941. The building is unique in its architectural and technical characteristics; it has no analogues in the world. |
