Exhibition "One Letter and a Thousand Horses"

From 29 June to 25 July 2014, the exhibition "One Letter and a Thousand Horses" ("Ein Brief und tausend Pferde") was held in Mölln. It was prepared by the Draught Horse Museum Lütau together with the German Society for Postal History and Telecommunications (DGPT Region Nord) with the participation of the Danish Philatelic and Postal Promotion Foundation.

The exhibition was dedicated to the postal history of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, the Copenhagen-Altona/Hamburg postal route in the 18th and 19th centuries and the interaction with the Danish Royal Mail. The exhibition was located in the Medallionhaus building at Hauptstrasse 150. The central element was a reconstructed historical interior of a Danish post office. The exhibition displayed stamps, postmarks, envelopes, and historical documents related to the work of the post office in the region.

On June 29, the opening day, a mobile office of the German Post was operating at the exhibition, where a special postmark was cancelled with a commemorative text and an image of a mounted courier of the Danish Royal Mail. (The drawing was created on the basis of a historical painting). The opening ceremony ended with the sending of letters and postcards on a small horse-drawn Royal Danish postal carriage "to Copenhagen".
